Steelsplitter
A downloadable game for Windows
One shot - one kill. All enemies die in 1 hit, if you hit their weak point.
Steelsplitter is a wave based shooter with typical rogue-like elements such as perma death and upgrades.
There are 5 unique enemies. 3 melee 2 ranged. One of the ranged enemies is a flying one.
Upgrades
The game has 30+ upgrades, split between 3 categories:
- Common;
- Uncommon;
- Legendary.
After every wave you'll receive 3 upgrades to choose from.
Weapons
There are 4 extra weapons, not counting the base dagger. These include:
- Doom stick - used to break enemy weak point defenses;
- Runeblade - melee cleave;
- Dark Cleaver - homing axe;
- Ultra Rang - a boomerang that returns from where it was thrown, at any time it can be hit with your other weapons for an extra bounce (This is a mostly unfinished weapon).
You unlock these weapons over the course of the game, eventually acquiring all of them.
Altars
Altars allow you to get strong buffs whilst gaining some negative effects. These help you speed up the early game and add an element of strategic choice. There are 4 altars:
- Altar of Sacrifice;
- Altar of Blood;
- Altar of Durability;
- Altar of Frenzy.
Controls
in game:
WASD - Movement
Space - Jump
Left Mouse Button - basic dagger throw.
Right Mouse Button, Q, E, R - other weapons.
F - Interact with altars.
In menus:
Z, C - cycle menu left/right (if applicable).
Q - Cancel selection/go back.
E - Confirm selection.
WASD - Navigate buttons.
or you can use your mouse for menus.
The game is technically playable on controller, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Playing with keyboard and mouse is significantly better due to precision needed for aiming.

Known issues
Drones getting stuck.
So if a wave seemingly doesn't end, search for a drone stuck behind something.

I have an Idea for the Boomerang/Ultra Rang:
-The Boomerang/Ultra Rang will now fly in a straight line forwards and will also return without any curves. (so it will attack two times)
-Also make it so you can charge it up. The more its charged, the bigger it will be, and it will have more cooldown.
-At max charge it will ignore weak points and will have a VERY long cooldown. (Like 30 seconds).

How to download
u press the download button
and extract it from files.
Ok after playing for a bit longer i have some notes i hope might be helpful,
1. too often did the axe hit one guy then hit a non weak point and do nothing
2. the spear men have a cool concept but i kept hitting the spear instead of the chest
3. I want more synergies (this is just a broad point i know but i do which my builds could have more complexity outside of living longer and shooting more often)
4. I love this game and plan on playing it often, but do wish there where more maps and a reason to move in said map so i don't just sit in one spot repeating the combat loop
all just constructive critique in hopes the game can improve even more, love it and would pay for an official release if improved.
Got up to wave 30, was really fun and hope this gets updated in the future

Whenever I try to open the game it opens a window then closes it without doing anything, does anybody know how to fix this

In all seriousness, what file contains the code for the weapons and upgrades? I want to modify the values for stuff.
i don't like ranged, drones specifically
not very useful but a made it, the drone cant make it

After a few days of playing, I have made a revelation. This entire game, the best run possible, it's all luck based. Here is advice that will get you to at least 60 every time you play: Always keep restarting until you get volley on the first upgrade. It pays off in the long run.
Noobkingfrfr's comment was this: "One thing I like to get is lots of speed, and that one ability that gives you immunity untill you get hit once. Also get as much health as possible, homing things like the green rarity daggers are also good, also get low cooldown and stack volley upgrades because and then you can keep on chaining the shotgun and the axe, also you can get life steel things since your gonna go on a long killing spree, at the beginning of late game waves start to reveal most of their weak points before killing the so you can chain better. And also focus on killing the drones or the light bulbs first because they are the most dangerous ones." I find it is also helpful to get the moonlight upgrade for the sword as it helps, and the feast upgrade makes the game really fun. The hammer does great at clearing out enemies when paired with the dagger. And also the dark mantle grants the immunity upgrade.

the drones are soooo strong. I have died from them evry single time. They have been the only enemy that can even hit me!!! BTW a very fun game. :)

i just wanna play how do i do it step per step and where certain files i need to get to are please i beg of yall (im on laptop so let me know if i need something else)
so, u need to download it, go to your files, go to downloads folder, then do the not double click but right click, then press extract, then, when the menu comes up, press extract, if that doesn't help, let me know.

How do I launch it from a .Zip file
You have to extract the file into a folder of your choice. You then should find the „Steelsplitter.exe“-File in the „Builds“ folder

I put it into a new folder, but it doesn't show "Steelsplitter.exe" it shows "Steelsplitter 1.0.1 .zip" I am also on a windows laptop.

Starting to lag so im js taking a screenshot now so I dont lose proof that I beat the record if I crash due to lag. imma see if I can get to atleast 130+
I die more to the water than anything, the second my toe hits it I ragdoll and die. Drones are fine ttbh just feels like when i hit them it doesnt register half the time.
