Steelsplitter
A downloadable game for Windows
One shot - one kill. All enemies die in 1 hit, if you hit their weak point.
Steelsplitter is a wave based shooter with typical rogue-like elements such as perma death and upgrades.
There are 5 unique enemies. 3 melee 2 ranged. One of the ranged enemies is a flying one.
Upgrades
The game has 30+ upgrades, split between 3 categories:
- Common;
- Uncommon;
- Legendary.
After every wave you'll receive 3 upgrades to choose from.
Weapons
There are 4 extra weapons, not counting the base dagger. These include:
- Doom stick - used to break enemy weak point defenses;
- Runeblade - melee cleave;
- Dark Cleaver - homing axe;
- Ultra Rang - a boomerang that returns from where it was thrown, at any time it can be hit with your other weapons for an extra bounce (This is a mostly unfinished weapon).
You unlock these weapons over the course of the game, eventually acquiring all of them.
Altars
Altars allow you to get strong buffs whilst gaining some negative effects. These help you speed up the early game and add an element of strategic choice. There are 4 altars:
- Altar of Sacrifice;
- Altar of Blood;
- Altar of Durability;
- Altar of Frenzy.
Controls
in game:
WASD - Movement
Space - Jump
Left Mouse Button - basic dagger throw.
Right Mouse Button, Q, E, R - other weapons.
F - Interact with altars.
In menus:
Z, C - cycle menu left/right (if applicable).
Q - Cancel selection/go back.
E - Confirm selection.
WASD - Navigate buttons.
or you can use your mouse for menus.
The game is technically playable on controller, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Playing with keyboard and mouse is significantly better due to precision needed for aiming.

Known issues
Drones getting stuck.
So if a wave seemingly doesn't end, search for a drone stuck behind something.

Ok, amazing game, I have some complaints, but some things I like
Pros
-Sound design is amazing
-I love the different upgrades for each weapon
-Amazing concept
Suggestions
-Add a way to throw 2 daggers at a time
-Give you more cards as the rounds go up
Bugs
-All attacks sent out the fan of daggers on the fifth, not just dagger throws
-One playthrough, starting at round 13 and ending at round 21, I was getting 2 cards be round, and the crystals were regenerating every other round
Cons
-No music. Seriously, I need some ambience or something. It's not fun without it.
-When you break the spearman's spear, it's weak spot closes again after like half a second. Why break it if it means it attacks with slightly less windup, and you barely get anything out of it?

we all know you need to make an update. (please, add more enemies and maybe special weapons, card/powerup debuff, and maybe that it will be slightly ammo based and you gonna have to get ammo from enemies like you did in droid fortress?)
wonderful game. drones are a bit annoying because its hard to hit them if your aim sucks and your hand shakes every single second because your a tryhard, but i love.this.game.

the drones are fine its the lightbulbs that are hard.
if someone wants advice for drones here is what i do: jump backwards and move backwards as well then when they are about to shoot jump out of the way so you dont get hit also shoot a dagger as you jump out of the way have a ability that shoot multible daggers is best.
Exactly. I just do this with volley doomstick, or just go under them and do this. You just gotta be fast.

(FOR WINDOWS ONLY idk how youd do it on any other considering there's only one download for windows...) First, locate the file on your PC and open it, then find the 'extract all' button. Then open the extracted file and look for a file within called 'Steelspitter'. Last step, ENJOY! I hope this helped!

I just wanted to say that Steelsplitter is a really fun game! The combat feels satisfying, and the rogue-like elements keep me coming back for more. I’d rate it an 8/10 so far.
That said, I wanted to give some feedback on the water mechanic. Dying instantly from touching just a single drop of water feels a bit harsh and frustrating. It adds tension, but sometimes it feels unfair, especially when the water placement is tricky to avoid.
Maybe you could consider adding some form of counterplay—like a way to survive or mitigate water damage, or at least some warning cues before instant death? It would make the gameplay feel a bit more balanced without losing that challenge. Thanks for making such a cool game!

Pretty cool project. Reached wave 81 before I got bored. Late game is just bhopping and ability spam. Game could really use some music though

lag is actually not terrable juts some quick freezes.
lag makes unplayable, and axe barely hits. great for good computers rough for ok computers (what I have) still super fun though spiders are almost impossible to hit.

Good game, played for an hour and 20 minutes, didn't even feel like that (That's how you know it's good)

Ran without issue on my pc, 12600k, 6950xt, 64gb ddr4 3600mhz, 2tb nvme, win11. it was a lot of fun! and before i knew it, an hour was gone. Drones are punishing lol. i did get a lot of screen tearing and i don't use vsync/freesync. left the game capped at 60. But after the first 10 mins, i barely noticed it anymore as i was too busy running for my life lol

For anyone wondering, you have to extract the Steelsplitter file before you can add it to steam as a non steam game.
